You may have come here from one of our pages about Kenya. You may have come from somewhere else entirely. Either way, we are glad you are here.
We are not going to argue with you. We are not going to pressure you. We are going to tell you, as simply and honestly as we can, what Christians believe God has done for every human being who has ever lived — including you.
These words are from the Bible, English Standard Version. They are not our words. We are only putting them in front of you.
Every person has sinned and fallen short
The Christian faith begins with an honest diagnosis. It does not begin with the idea that you are terrible. It begins with the idea that every single person — no matter how good, no matter how devout — has fallen short of what God is and what God asks.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
This is not a curse on you. It is an honest statement about all of us. The apostle who wrote these words included himself.
The consequence of sin is death — but God offers a gift
In the same verse where God's justice is made clear, His mercy is also made clear. The wages — the earned outcome — of sin is death. But God does not leave it there.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
A wage is something you earn. A gift is something given freely. God is offering a gift, not demanding that you earn your way to Him.
God loved you even before you turned to Him
This is the part of the Christian message that most surprises people. God did not wait for humans to clean themselves up before He acted. He acted first, while people were still living far from Him.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The God of the Bible moved toward human beings, not the other way around.
Jesus is the way God opened to every person
Christians believe that Jesus — Isa al-Masih, whom Islam also recognises as a prophet — is more than a prophet. Christians believe He is the Son of God, who took the penalty for human sin upon Himself so that the path to God could be opened to everyone.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Salvation comes through faith, not by earning it
The Christian faith is not a system of rules to follow until you have done enough. It is a gift, received by trusting in what Jesus has already done — not by anything you add to it.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Grace means unearned favour. God extends it freely to everyone who trusts in His Son.
Believe and confess — that is all God asks
This is not complicated. The Bible says it plainly: believe in your heart and say it with your mouth. That is the whole door.
“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
He does not turn away anyone who comes to Him
You may feel that your life has been too far from God, or that you have done things that cannot be forgiven. Jesus Himself said otherwise.
“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If you want to receive this gift, you can pray something like this
There is no magic formula. God hears honest words from an honest heart. If you mean what you say, He hears you.
Lord God, I know that I have sinned and fallen short of what You are. I believe that Jesus died in my place and was raised from the dead. I turn away from my old way of living. I receive Your forgiveness. I confess that Jesus is Lord. Come into my life. I am Yours.
If you prayed that — or something like it, in your own words — the Bible says you are now a child of God. Welcome.
What happens next?
Faith is not a single moment — it is the beginning of a relationship. If you have made this decision, we encourage you to read the Gospel of John (the fourth book of the New Testament) slowly and prayerfully. Talk to God directly, in your own language, every day. Find other Christians if you can.
You do not need to have everything figured out. God knows exactly where you are. He is patient, and He is not finished with you yet.
We are glad you came to this page. We hope you will stay, read, and keep asking questions.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
